THE WALNUT CREEK STAFF

Farm Manager: Tom Reininger

Tom, as one of the owners, has managed the physical operations around the farm since the building of Walnut Creek Stables on the site of the family dairy farm (he married one of the farmer’s daughters, Ruth!!). He helps with many of the day-to-day chores with the horses, as well as cutting and putting up hay, dragging rings, equipment and farm maintenance, and generally just keeping everything running ship-shape! Tom retired, after 32 years, from the Butler County Board of Mental Retardation, but now keeps extremely busy every day at the farm and tries to get in a few rides a week on his own horse.

Business Manager: Carol Hartlaub

Carol, as an owner and one of the dairy farmer’s daughters, manages the financial and accounting end of the business, as well as scheduling and running the shows at the farm. She also operates her own accounting business. Both Tom and Carol are active members of the Queen City Dressage Circuit and The Dressage Company-local organizations who support and put on competitions and other activities in the area for dressage enthusiasts. Carol is also Treasurer of The Dressage Company and Tom, Vice President.

Barn Manager: Katharine Hess

Kate has been barn manager since 2008. She has worked around horses since she was 9 years old. She went to Hocking College for two years and took the Back Country Horsemanship program, as well as many other classes, such as Equine Acupressure, adding to her equine knowledge. She also assists with the lesson program, teaching some of the beginner students. Katharine works very hard to make sure all of the horses and their owners are safe and happy and lives on the property so she can keep a close watch on the activities around the farm!
